Sara Ray was born in Tennessee, where she lived for the first twenty-one years of her life. Following her high school graduation, she attended Milligan College in Upper East Tennessee. She left Milligan after three years to pursue an “MRS” degree. Her husband (Bob Ray) was from Indiana, so Sara moved from her native Tennessee to the Hoosier state following her marriage.
At first, Sara’s intention was to finish her college degree; however, she ended up staying home to take care of the three children she and Bob welcomed into their family. The teaching career she had always wanted turned into years of teaching Sunday School and Bible studies. She also taught in a preschool for a few years.
Through the years, Sara has written lessons, skits, poems, and devotions. She also put together a couple of musical dramas that were used by her church choir. Writing became more serious for her when she began authoring the Cooks’ Corner column for her local newspaper.
Even though her husband passed away in 2012, Sara still resides in Central Indiana. Her family consists of her three children and their spouses, plus seven grandchildren – three girls and four boys. She also has a furry family made up of two cats and a dog.
Sara’s hobbies consist of reading, cooking, crocheting, sewing, and, of course, writing. Since 2006 Sara has written the popular Cooks’ Corner column for her local newspaper. During that time, she has featured over 1,200 recipes; she has tried almost every one of them herself. Her readers encourage her to keep writing; they enjoy the stories in her column just as much or more than the recipes! She also receives many appreciative comments whenever she makes use of an opportunity to share her faith and trust in God along with her recipes.
